It's Convention Season!

First and foremost, I would like to thank dear, dear, dear =ancode for the 3-month subscription. I may have not used it to its full potential, but I loved the ad-free and many thumbnail browsing. Not to mention being able to feature thumbnails of my friends' artwork! It's so convenient. Thank you, Mr. Ancode - you are so so kind!

Convention season usually isn't different than any other but since I have an art table, I'm frantically researching to see what I can do for new prints and honing my style to be better than two years ago. All the series I haven't even checked out once: Hetalia, Vocaloid... I'm willing to hear your favorite series too, it'll really help! I also have been having some issues with the general Ai-Kon public (rest assured, it's nothing I can't handle) so I have to be MUCH better this time around. It also means I'm frantically drawing fan art as well. It's so AWKWARD because I have been doing original work practically all year. Still, I'm really excited about Ai-Kon.

Art-wise, I'm working on 2 big projects. My art trades and requests (GASP! Finally!) and something fun. I have to get the first bit out by July to show ~finni and ~SlumberPoppy I'm serious about the project and will focus on it - at the very least monthly. I'm sure a few of you have figured out what this project is, but if you haven't - it'll be a nice surprise. ;)

Have a nice summer everyone!

:iconcelestialspirity: I've been watching him since 2004 and I earnestly love the style that he has developed within that time. His love for machinery, animals, and the power bursts make me excited to check out what he has next. What? I'm a sucker for them! I admit it!

oooh - blushes - dont call me mr, makes me look old... well maybe I am a bit old xP

nya, when I read about what you do in the cons I just feel like I should do more xP. I always complain about having no free time at all but I guess that, although is true, is also true that I hardly use my free time in a wise way, so I guess you have more will that I do. I must train more!.

I hope you will get a good time in there ^^

mmm? my favorite series? well i cant tell because I like a lot of them... I can say Suzumilla, Slayers, Kimagure orange road, escaflowne, macross... and I can go on XD

Yay convention season! I've been kind of following the happenings of Ai-Kon through the forums. Don't let it get you down, they're just jealous :P I'm kind of debating on whether or not I should go this year.

I wouldn't worry too much about perfecting your style. I remember seeing your artwork almost five or six years ago back in high school, and I kept thinking how the person who drew it must be soooo coool! (and I was right).

As for favourite series, well, I'm really enjoying One Piece right now. Holic is really good too! I also like Bleach, NANA, Fullmetal Alchemist, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, The Wallflower, and I always have a soft spot for anything Sailor Moon.

Maybe that will kind of give you some ideas. Good luck with your art table! Maybe I'll try and see what you've come up with this year :D

I never joined the forums because most of the drama is so mean there. They're not nice to the winners of the Ai-Kon mascot contest (and sometimes each other!) and this is the first time that a third place winner was chewed out. They were SO mean to Heather last year! Thanks for your support though, I'll figure out something.

Ha, ha - you're too kind about SMA, Alex. ^_^

The Wallflower? Hmm, gotta check that one out. Thanks for the list of series, it really did help!

I won't goad you into coming to Ai-Kon, it's your choice and the visitors this time around are so-so, but I made friends with Yggdrasil Productions (y'know, the Kaname, Xigbar, and Lavi cosplay troupe) so I'm really looking forward to what they do next! That and there's a friend I only see at Ai-Kon and I want to use this opportunity to hang out with him. And it's the only chance I get to talk with you. :)

We'll see how it goes!

You're not that much older than me! :XD:

Oooh, Macross, that series has always been close to my heart. As well as the NES video game - it amused me SO much. :D

hahahaha I see
yeah, macross is kinda cool. Last summer I watched it (original series) all again, because is a long time since I saw it, - actually I saw robotech when it was released xP but they lost lot of stuff with that version xP - I also watched all macross frontier. I still have macross 7 and macross zero to see ^.-

Ooo, secret projects? You sneaky girl. XD Can't wait to see what you have cooking up. ^^

Ouch. That doesn't sound good that you had trouble before. Good that you're having a positive view on it now, but I hope you don't have the same sort of trouble this year as before. ^^ I'm sure you'll have an awesome time, and hopefully I can see you there next year =D

As for favourite series, I can't just choose one. Lately favourites have been Yugioh 5Ds and K-ON!, which I saw and got hooked at Anime North (it's a very adorable, lighthearted series. Really addicting too). Oh course, others include Tsubasa, FMA, Bleach (although this is now sort of becoming a favourite because it amuses me so much XD), Digimon, and a few more old school kinds of series.

I can't remember how much Hetalia stuff was actually at AN. I did pick up a button (of Canada no less XD) But because it's a series I don't follow too well, I didn't recognize a lot of other pieces. Bleach was greatly popular though. Not a lot of Naruto from what I remember. And for Tsubasa and FMA there was a fair amount of tables that had them.

I do remember, though, seeing quite a bit of Yokos from Gueren Lagann, both as art and cosplays. I even picked up a few pieces because people draw her so adorable.
:icontamayouchi:
Quite frankly, I'm still bitter about the whole thing, but it's only a few people and it's only on the Ai-Kon forums. Still, I can't let it drag me down.

Ah yes, K-ON!, that's starting to pick up steam. I'm going to have to check it out myself too. Thank you so much for all the input, you really helped. Now I can narrow down my series!

Awww. That's good though. ^^ It's a con and everyone should enjoy it, so it's good to see a positive attitude about it ^^

*nods* Yeah, there was even some K-ON! art there too and it's own video screening in the program as well. And you're welcome ^^ My memory's a little fuzzy right now, because of stress currently, but I figured it would help you ^^;

Oh, and I wanted to tell you this before, but at AN, there was actually a small booth that was selling hard cover books of the Art of Reboot. It's pretty spiffy. ^^
