HELP! Search for the Magical Girl!

Sat Oct 31, 2009, 9:07 AM
Happy Halloween y'all!

Now my title sounds like a bad anime episode. ^^; That aside, I would please like your help in finding "magical girl"/mahou shojo types anime/manga/characteristics/characters for a current project. Rest assured I have researched the basics, but I find REAL experience always more helpful than just reading about it.

I like magical girl/shojo as much as the next person (die hard Sailor Moon fan :w00t:), but it's really not my cup of tea since I'm more of a shonen, mecha, die-hard action fan. The series I am aware of and have references for are:

Sailor Moon, Pretty Cure, Tokyo Mew Mew (Mew Mew Power), Cardcaptor Sakura

...Yeesh, I'm so North American mainstream. :XD:

Her pieces are incredibly detailed and stunning, and you won't be sorry you stopped to take a peek!

Ooo, I'm curious about this project now :D

I think there's Magical Girl DoReMi but I think that's the American release name, so it might not be correct XD; That's about all I can think of that's not on that list. Hope you find more :3

Phantom Thief Jeanne, Shugo Chara, Pichi Pichi Pichi! Mermaid Melody, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Majoko Meg-chan, Crayon Kingdom, Princess Tutu, Wedding Peach and that's all I can think off of the top of my head.

I happen to be a big fan of them in addition to horror, shonen and comedy series.

Ooh! Thank you so very, very, very much for all the great suggestions! :hug: This is going to help with the research efforts. I've heard of a few of what you suggested, but I never really got around to checking them out. I'll do so now! :)

The project isn't anything too special, I just want to see if I can create a magical girl character since it's out of my comfort zone. A magical girl and really creepy monster are on equal terms in my abilities. ^^;

Ah yes, DoReMi! I've heard of it but never watched it. Thanks for the recommendation!

Thought this page would be helpful if you haven't already gotten to it: [link] I totally second Princess Tutu, and some others on that list that haven't already been mentioned are Magic Knight Rayearth, Pretty Sammy (probably also Sasami: Magical Girls Club along with that), and Pretear. :) Revolutionary Girl Utena is excellent, but it's a pretty atypical mahou shoujo.
